The Responsibility Required to Awaken

Finding the spiritual within is not just about being more aware, being more concentrated, feeling pleasant, or having nice feelings, because there’s an esoteric work to do as well, and this takes place in higher dimensions. Now, humanity has the techniques and the tools to get to those higher dimensions and find out what’s going on there.

This is about the path to enlightenment, and there are requirements along this path, set by divine beings in higher dimensions. If you really wish to get the spiritual within you must fulfill the requirements they set. And to do that you have to have a sense of responsibility in what you do; to be responsible for your actions, because along the way you are tested, and if you take this lightly, you are going to be knocked out straight away and never progress, no matter how concentrated or aware you might be.

So you need to have the dedication, aim, goal, and the sense that you are responsible for what you do. And that goes throughout the actions of daily life; how you act when there is no one around even. You might think that no one is watching and therefore you can do whatever you want—true here in this three-dimensional world, but over there you are watched; there are beings that watch you. If you are on the path they monitor and check what you do to see whether you are changing and fulfilling the requirements.

Now this may sound strange to those who have no knowledge of esoteric things, which is why we have techniques so that you can go and get that knowledge of the spiritual, knowledge of life and what’s happening. The great knowledge though, the great wisdom, is hidden, it’s in secret. You can’t just get to it by having an out-of-body experience. No matter what you imagine, you won’t get there; you won’t receive the real secret teachings. They are given according to the level of the person, and if an individual is not at any stage along the path, they won’t gain access to the things which are above their stage.

So a beginner has access to very little information, very little knowledge. If you want that knowledge you need to take up the path, because it’s there that the real wisdom is given. Here there is information that leads a person to search, practice, and gain their own knowledge, but in itself, the real wisdom is what you experience. At each stage there is a test to pass and a requirement to fulfill. At each stage there is a certain amount of wisdom and knowledge that you can achieve. As you progress, that increases, but as you progress, the requirements that they, the spiritual beings put for initiation also increase. So you have to do things more responsibly, watching your actions very carefully as you move along. If you go out of that, if you don’t fulfill the requirements, you never get to the next stage.

Unfortunately, the state of humanity is so low that most people never get to any kind of level of esoteric wisdom. People generally are preoccupied with things in the world, which pass, fade, change, decay; which are subjected to time. But that’s how it goes; esoteric wisdom is not valued, it’s trashed, it’s not understood. You cannot get it from just flitting around from one idea to another, one place to another, one theory, one belief, one little practice here and there—you cannot get real wisdom like that, it’s impossible, it doesn’t work like that.

You have to fulfill the requirements which exist, which have been set throughout time; the same ones that every human being who has gained spiritual development in a real sense has gone through. You join the mystery that is in the internal worlds—a mystery which is guarded, a mystery which is secret, which is not given to this humanity who will trash it.

It’s unfortunate that so many people never have access to great wisdom and knowledge, teachings, never feel really spiritual—all those things are cut off, hidden, while humanity continues with its beliefs, its ideas. It’s a very serious thing and it requires a great level of responsibility to do it. And if you don’t take the steps to meet it, you will never get esoteric wisdom—never, it just won’t happen. You can get helped here and there, and have experiences to a certain degree, but the real knowledge and the real wisdom is not given for free, you have to earn it: you have to pass tests, meet the requirements and laws, become initiates over there.

Q: What can you do to earn the most help possible in order to accomplish the next step in your work?

Belsebuub: Do what you do well and fully with faith and with the interests of others at heart. More than that depends what the next step is. It depends really on what an individual is going through. They need to find out what their next step is, where they are roughly, and then check their dreams, see what they are doing that’s not right.

See if you can actually correct any mistakes that are being made; correct anything you see in your dreams and then move on from there.

But it’s an individual thing, the path is very much a personal thing, if you go through it then it’s in your life, in the very things that you do. And so you have to tackle things in your life.

We have been hearing a lot about activity and acting correctly, and I just wanted to make sure that I understood these terms, as they are, you know, quite broad. And I just wanted to relate an everyday thing and see if have gotten this correctly.

I work as a high school teacher and it is part of my job to make sure kids do not smoke on school grounds, and it’s my responsibility to enforce these rules, it’s quite boring to do it and you have this fear of conflict and everything. And I had this idea that if I practice a lot at home and go for awareness walks I can get rid of this fear, but it seems like it’s more, you see something and you know the right thing to do is to approach and tell them, “you have to move away from here,” and then you will get all these feelings of fear, but you must be active and you must act correctly so you go against that and while you act correctly you’re really trying to apply the inner death to the things that are stopping you from acting in this way.

Is that acting correctly and being active in the small things, or is it really a bigger picture that I’m not really getting at here?

We have take the small things to make a bigger picture and that’s a good example of being responsible, because you have a duty to carry out that task but you get these feelings of fear and other feelings that really make you not want to do it. So in order to carry out the responsibility, you have to go against those feelings of fear and die to them if you can. And that applies to things through life.

We do things sometimes we don’t want to do, but we do them because we know that they are the right things to do. And if you apply that throughout different things in your life, you will see many, many events that pop up that you have to deal with, that you don’t want to do, but you know that you should do them. And you’re doing exactly the right thing by carrying out the responsibility and observing within at the same time, because by observing within you are seeing the things within you that try to stop you from carrying out your duty. And as you’re dying to them you’re getting rid of them; then you are using the events of your life in order to change, getting knowledge about yourself as well at the same time. So that’s how you move forward with this responsibility.

As another example, if someone gives you something in trust and you break that trust by telling others about it—you had that responsibility which you had agreed to, and you entered a kind of a mutual agreement of trust with a person, but because things such as wanting to gossip or other reasons came up, then someone goes and breaks that trust—there again is an example of not being responsible. So it’s not just to do with giving the teaching or anything to do with practices, although it does include that, it’s to do with the things that you do in daily life. The testing is in daily life; it’s not in some obscure situation. And it’s in those little details of life that you need to be observant to watch and to see what’s going on within you, to see the reaction inside, and to change the action.

Thank you. It was a really good and clarifying answer. I think I have made sort of the Buddhist mistake of not going into a monastery, but isolating myself and hoping to get rid of the egos to face situations without getting that negativity within me, but it’s definitely impossible to do it that way.

Yes it is. That’s a different way altogether.

Hi. I just wanted to give feedback to what you put out there before, because I was thinking about the reason that things don’t work, and especially listening to the talk last week, I realized that for me, I forget about what the goal is, like, I forget that the goal is enlightenment, and it’s a really big problem because once you forget what the goal is then it’s like, you don’t have anything that directs your actions. And it was really helpful for me after last week to kind of look into how other things become the goal and how you can try to be a hundred percent dedicated to what you’re doing, but the dedication isn’t in the right place, which is the goal.

So I just wanted to give that feedback because it’s been really helpful for the last week, whenever I remember what the goal is, then all of a sudden the things that were really difficult situations to face or egos or whatever, it becomes so much easier to actually dig in and just die to them, or just fight that, because then you have a reason for what you’re doing. But when you don’t remember or if you don’t set it aside enough time to feed your consciousness so that you have that remembrance, then it all kind of goes downhill.

Yes that’s right, because will and wishes and everything is in the things that you do. But you can then easily lose track of why you are doing things in this overall picture. That overall picture of enlightenment is needed to really set the stage for life, because if you don’t have it then you start to get slack, not only as you’ve said in practices and things, but in the way that you are responsible for what you do. Because that sense starts to go, it starts to get eroded, and then you allow things to happen, you allow yourselves to do things that you know are not quite right. You don’t act then with this higher picture toward the responsibility that you have to your own awakening. You know, it’s a responsibility, and if you get lost in those things as you’ve pointed out, then you not only become petty, small-minded and everything, but you don’t progress, you don’t move forward.

Whoever wishes to take up this work needs to get that overall picture as to where they are going, what they really want to do, and then focus on it and aim for it. This is not made for beings other than people—this is for people to do. People potentially throughout the world can take up the path, walk along it and enlighten, become awakened. No one is banned from it unless they have gone right off track. So, it’s important to get that overall picture of life, so it gives a context to work towards. And in reality you see that it happens stage-by-stage.

When you’re able to go to the next step and then take the one after that, then, you’re walking the path in reality, you’re doing it actually in your life, and then it’s not an obscure goal either, but it’s something that’s part of your life. So, you need to bring it into your life by getting to the next step or taking the first step and then you’ll see that it’s real, it’s something that actually happens, it takes place in your life, it’s part of your life, but you just need to get things together to make the first step, or to take the next step, to do it.

Being a beginner, it’s always difficult to assess my situations, both personally and externally in the world, to make it favorable for the path. I seem to struggle with limited options. Is it going to be like this or is there any tip you can give us? I mean to say if I suffer from lack of wisdom over my situations, what is it that I should be looking to correct?

There’s a goal about the path, but then there are things which are happening in everyday life, the events, and it’s in the events where the path really takes place. So, you need to look at the events in your life and see how you live them, what you’re actually doing there. There may be things which are against, or go contrary to spiritual progress. There may be things which are difficult to correct. So then, you need to get yourself as clear as you can psychologically to be able to assess the situations that you face, and then try to move forward as best as you can.

You see, wisdom is found in daily life, which leads us to the real knowledge—and it’s when you take that knowledge and apply it to the things which go on that you use daily life for learning, and you extract knowledge from it. So, if you are doing that and you’re advancing, then with each stage that you advance the doors open internally to wisdom,  knowledge and experiences, but you do it in daily life.

You need a clear assessment of what’s happening, where things are going wrong, without getting emotional or upset, but just to look logically and assess realistically what you can and cannot do, and then work within what you can do. When you do that, you’ll find that new opportunities can also open up, because as you change, you bring forth a new series of events in your life, which are both from the physical point of view and the internal point of view. And then things that you didn’t think could happen then start to happen, new opportunities open up. If you are truly moving forward, then circumstances will allow you to keep going. But, you need to take the steps to allow that to happen.

If you are just lost within worries, reactions, feeling down, feeling negative, you’re going to base your actions on that, and they tend not to be very good. If you feel down, you can sometimes act irrationally, based upon the feelings which are within and driving you; that’s not a good way to decide anything. If you want to decide things, get clear, wait until you’re clear, and take steps to get clear. And when you’re clear then, you can plan things much better, you can get a perspective on what you’re doing, stand back a bit and look at it. But you’ve got to get out of low states to be able to do that, reactions against things lead to actions that are not usually the best ones. So speaking generally, try to get clear and take the right steps without being negative, seeing realistically what can and cannot be done, and getting your perspective on life in relation to the awakening, realizing that it’s done in daily life.
